"The Apl Song" is the eleventh track from the album Elephunk. In the song, apl.de.ap talks about his life back in the Philippines and his experience as a Filipino American. The chorus is spoken in Tagalog which is sampled from the song "Balita" by the folk band Asin.

A rough translation of the chorus would be as follows:

"Come closer friends and listen

I have news from my homeland

I would like to share stories and the events going on

In the promised land".

The last part of the song is sampled from A Tribe Called Quest's 1993 song "8 Million Stories".

Music Video[]

It was writen and directed by Patricio Ginelsa. Marion Ginelsa plays "Manong", a World War II veteran stuck in a retirement home, neglected by his family, and hoping to return to his homeland. The video also features The Neptunes producer Chad Hugo, as Manong's family member. While the video had little to do with the song's lyrics, archive images of apl.de.ap's early life were interspersed throughout it.
