"The Apl Song" is the eleventh track from the album Elephunk. In the song, apl.de.ap talks about his life back in the Philippines and his experience as a Filipino American. The chorus is spoken in Tagalog.
A rough translation of the chorus would be as follows:
'Come closer friends and listen I have news from my homeland I would like to share stories And events that are going on In the promised land.'
The last part of the song is sampled from A Tribe Called Quest's 1993 song '8 Million Stories'.
Music Video
It was writen and directed by Patricio Ginelsa. Marion Ginelsa plays "Manong", a World War II veteran stuck in a retirement home, neglected by his family, and hoping to return to his homeland.
